ISAAC O. OGBOGO: A YOUNG MAN HELPED BY GOD FROM THE VILLAGE TO AN INTERNATIONAL SCENE.
I am thrilled to announce that I arrived Texas, USA two weeks ago to commence my graduate studies; specifically MS Chemistry at Sam Houston State University on a fully funded teaching assistantship and scholarship. I would have shared this story immediately I arrived, but I was unable to do so due to a circumstance beyond my control. I believe it is not yet late as it can inspire some set of people today.
My journey to US for further studies is a dream come true for me; all made possible by the grace of God. It really pays to serve God faithfully, I am a living witness. I appreciate everyone who supported me in one way or the other to enable me realize this dream. Dekemp, EducationUSA Abuja, some of you reading this post and host of others played a significant role in this voyage, and I must not fail to acknowledge that I am grateful.
I want to use this avenue to encourage anyone who might be struggling or facing different kinds of challenges in his pursuit that our dreams are valid. It is just a matter of time and good positioning for opportunities before we realize them. My journey to US for further studies is not as smooth as many people may think. Going back memory lane to my childhood, I was assisting my mum to sell in the market after school. I did not consider that as an excuse not to do well. Also, when I was to start my secondary school, things were so challenging for my parents to the point that I had no other option but to attend afternoon school for my first two years (JSS 1-2). Then, I used to go to farm in my village in Benue State in the morning and run back home, sweating profusely when I attended UBE School (free education) in the afternoon. This routine continue until I left to complete my high school in another public school for the remaining four years.
Likewise, when I got admission for B.Sc Chemistry in Benue State University, it was not easy either, as I had in my mind that my education in the village did not measure up to the standard of many others. I had to go extra miles before I was able to meet up. Against all odds, God helped me to graduate with a first-class degree and in the process, two departmental records were broken and one was set.
Conclusively, some persons may be lucky in life to be born with a silver spoon, but if you are not one like me, then you should be intentional about your life’s goal. Do not allow your humble background to keep you in the ground. By all good means, reach out for the top because the bottom is already too crowded. You are also meant to be a high-flyer in life.
