Lady Who Bagged Double First Class Honours, Gets Scholarship, Lands In Hong kong For Her PHD

A brilliant lady named Akaniro Ifunanya is excited at the moment as she got a scholarship to start her PhD program at Hong Kong.

Ifunanya had double first class honours in BSc. Microbiology and MSc. Microbiology.

Sharing the exciting news. She wrote;

So I’m here to testify that God is real and every of his word is reliable.

Who could have imagined that a lady from such a small community in Imo state would one day be a PhD scholar in one of the most beautiful cities in the world? #Grace

Having bagged double first class honours, both in my first degree (B.Sc. Microbiology) and master’s degree (MSc. Microbiology), I am happy to announce here, that I’ve landed in #HongKong to officially commence my fully funded PhD program in Biotechnology in one of the most beautiful institutions in the world #HongKongBaptistUniversity.

This is coming after deferring my resumption by one semester, owing to circumstances beyond my control.

I am so overwhelmed. It feels so surreal. This is an opportunity I’ve always prayed and worked so hard for and I’m grateful to God it is finally here.

The devil tried to stop me, towards the last days of my departure, the toughest temptations came, I had to reschedule my flights three times. Some of my friends were beginning to believe some forces don’t want to see my travel..lol.. but they didn’t know the power of God is upon me. For my scripture tells me that all principalities and powers bow at the mention of the name, Jesus Christ. The name Jesus Christ won me the battle #spiritualwarfare

It’s not just an opportunity to do my PhD, but also an opportunity to work as a graduate assistant under a God sent and a seasoned academic professor, while receiving a mouth watering monthly stipend (You wouldn’t want to guess the amount!).

I’m so grateful to God, it ended in praise.
Sincere gratitude to my parents and my siblings, they’ve been my backbone through this journey.

Special appreciation to my amiable lecturers cum mentors, without your outstanding referee reports, I wouldn’t have made it this far.

Much thanks also to Rita Orji, PhD for the numerous inspirational posts, they went a long way in shaping my mindset towards making it here.

To all who have supported me in one way or the other, you’re highly appreciated.

I am equally happy to join other Nigerian scholars in Hong Kong; Mistura Salaudeen, Onyeka Odoh, Tobi Michael Alabi, Temitope Kehinde, Kelvin Orisaremi, Adeniran Ibrahim, Kehinde Oyetunde, and a lot others.

By the Grace of God, I am here to make impacts and to make you all proud.

Let me also seize this opportunity to wish you all a happy and prosperous 2022. His mercies will see us through.
