Lady Whose Mum Cleaned Hospitals & Her Dad Drove Taxi For Over 20 Years To Put Her Through School, Says She’s So Grateful For Their Sacrifices
Ghanaian lady named Deniece L. has gone down memory lane, she talked about the sacrifices her parents made to put her siblings through school. She also celebrated her mother who recently had a family visit at the White House.
She’s glad her mum has seen how far she has gone in her career.
Sharing the exciting news on LinkedIn, she wrote:
Family visit at the White House for the holidays!
And I want to publicly honor my mom, who I’m glad was able to join us! She immigrated to the United States in the 1970’s from Ghana, could barely read and write, never had the opportunity to even finish junior high school, and was trained in a vocational school to learn how to sew.
Growing up in the Bronx, NY, she cleaned hospitals and served as a nurses aid and my father drove a taxi for over 20 years to put my sisters and I through school— being the first generation in our family to go to college.
Yesterday it was such a joy for her to witness how far I’ve come along in my career. I’m so grateful for my parents sacrifices. My moms faith, her prayer and her boldness continues to inspire me to do what I do everyday. She takes great care of her grandkids and may God give them long life and great health to see their great grandkids!
