Man Who Couldn’t Pay His Sch Fees & Was Always Trekking In FUTA Graduates With 1st Class In Industrial Chemistry, Wins An Award

A young man named Aanuoluwapo Adeniyi has narrated all his experiences during his academic journey.

He encountered serious financial challenge and struggled to pay his school fees, he was always trekking to school. But all this experiences never derailed his dreams as he eventually graduated with 1st class in industrial chemistry.

He also won an award because he graduated with the highest score in the chemistry department.

Sharing on his LinkedIn platform, he wrote:

The journey started in 2015, after I couldn’t gain admission into the department of MEE FUTA, having scored 248 in JAMB and 72% in post UTME.

I almost lost hope, but I braced up, changed my course to Industrial Chemistry (which I didn’t regret later). And this was the beginning of the story.

Financial challenge was a big deal to me academically, I could remember how hard it was to pay FUTA acceptance fee and School fees even as cheap as they were then (#35,000 and #49,900 respectively).

As a 100 level student, I came with a mat, a bucket, few cloths, small foodstuffs and a backpack (with no hope of where to stay). I could also remember a day one of my senior colleagues saw my legs covered in dust and asked me if I was the only one trekking in FUTA.

I’m so grateful to my parents, my brothers and my friends that God has used as instruments for me in one way or the other. I grew up in wisdom and knowledge of God to do things even when they are difficult and never give up.

My goal was to graduate as the best graduating student. Although I couldn’t achieve that, I graduated with a first class honor in industrial chemistry, having a CGPA of 4.74/5.0.

I also won an award of being the graduating student with the highest score in CHE 411, coordination chemistry (one of the most abstract courses in chemistry) with a score of 81/100 awarded by Prof J.O. Ojo chemistry department FUTA.

And as an undergrad, I fell in love with language learning, Photo editing and graphics designing, and to the glory of God, I can speak Yoruba, English, Spanish (level C1). I’m a level B1 speaker of French and A2 speaker of Portuguese. I’m a professional photo editor and graphics designer

Currently, I’m seeking offers in form of Scholarships for a PhD program in Organic Chemistry (please share with me any link, and I’m open for any support thanks).

There is a saying which I love so much and that is “If you want to leave the Earth, aim at the sun, so that if you can’t reach the sun, you will surely land on the moon”. Thanks
