A Nigerian lady with the Twitter handle @khol_e has taken to social media to seek help after she got duped of N450,000 by a Lagos landlord. The young lady said she paid the landlord N450,000 on November 16, 2020, adding that she did not have time to do some necessary things in the apartment and move in.

She said after paying for the apartment, the landlord sold the house and refused to return her money.

In her words: “The house I rented with N450k was demolished before I moved in. The landlord is not saying anything. He keeps shouting at us (the tenants) telling us to do our worst. Please how do I get my money? I’m tired of this Lagos.”

According to @khol_e, she painted the apartment on Christmas day and tried to fix lights. She said the demolition started on the day she was supposed to move into the apartment. Caramel Goodness said she got scammed of N450k by a Lagos landlord.

She wrote: “I traveled home to Delta on the 29th and came back on the 2nd of Jan. “On my way back from Delta on the 2nd, I called the Care taker to find out if the electrician he brought had fix the lights (I had paid him 8k already which I’ve not gotten back), it was then he told me that the house was being demolished and I needed to come quickly.”

Nigerians took to the comment section of the post to share their thoughts.

@FemiWager commented: “Omo, first of, if you can afford police o, just carry the man. Or let a lawyer demand your money via a letter, that works fine anyway. But person wey them demolish him house go wan japa, so act fast.”

@offical_dexter reacted: “You are entitled to your money back. The landlord must have been given prior information to that effect and owed you the responsibility of disclosing all the encumbrances on his property. Please speak with @Noren02. This is so disheartening.”

@KennedyOnyishi wrote: “Forget about police and lawyers. Enter barracks, go complain to some soldiers. Take those soldiers go meet the Man and see how he will transfer the money to you immediately.”
