Lady Who Hawked To Train Herself Into University, Is Now PhD Student In US After 2 Masters
- Augustina Kwesie Osabutey, a genius 28-year-old Ghanaian lady, now pursues her PhD at the South Dakota State University in the US
- She also has a master’s certificate in Ecological Restoration & a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering
- Augustina rose from her humble beginnings as a hawker who had to struggle before affording admission form to university among others
Augustina Kwesie Osabutey, an adorable 28-year-old Ghanaian lady currently pursues her PhD after rising from a place of limited means.
In a one-on-one chat with YEN.com.gh’s Edward Asare, Augustina indicated that she is at the South Dakota State University as a PhD student in Agricultural, Biosystems and Mechanical Engineering.
The young beauty also has a Master’s Certificate in Ecological Restoration as well as a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from the Montana Technological University.
Life wasn’t always this pleasant for Augustina.
Before going into university, she had to hawk pastries to buy herself the admission forms and other provisions; and this continued throughout her studies at the University of Mines and Technology.
“I had to sell pastries in the streets of Axim after senior high school to support my family, buy admission forms and obtain money for my school fees after gaining admission to pursue my BSc. in University of Mines and Technology”, she recounted.
Aside from all her involvements, Augustina Kwesie Osabutey also runs Teen Lead Foundation, a non-profit organization consisting of 11 amazing team members who work together to give back to the society.
Earlier in 2020, Augustina, along with her dad, younger brother and Mr Samuel Adumuah of Africa World Airlines had a fundraising exercise with the support of Butte MT Community to construct two drinking water wells for the Adukrom community in the Western Region of Ghana.
When asked about what inspires her to keep undertaking her groundbreaking exploits, Augustina mentioned:
“The desire to help and see teenagers in Axim and Ghana achieve their career goals and my younger siblings”.
