Meet The 1st Black Woman To Complete Residency In Urology At Columbia University

  • Columbia University was established 266 years ago but no Black woman has been able to complete the program until now
  • Currently, the brilliant doctor has taken another big step to start her fellowship in andrology (Sexual Dysfunction and Male Infertility) at the University of California

Dr Denise A. Asafo-Adjei, a brilliant Ghanaian lady, has made the country and Africa proud after becoming the first Black woman to complete a residency in urology at Columbia University.

The high-achiever revealed this feat on her personal Instagram handle in a recent post.

Since Columbia University was established on May 25, 1754, in New York in the United States of America, no Black woman has ever finished residency in urology until now.

Urology, which is also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs.

According to the smart Ghanaian doctor, it took tremendous support from God, her parents, awesome siblings, family, fabulous friends, wonderful mentors, sponsors, and lover for her to attain this feat.

She also noted that every step of her journey has been full of hard work and countless sacrifices. Currently, the doctor has initiated her next big step after starting her fellowship in andrology (Sexual Dysfunction and Male Infertility) at the University of California.
