James Momoh: I have a dream that Nigeria will have 24 hours power – NERC boss

A recent speech by Prof James Momoh, the chairman of the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), about his dream that Nigerian will have uninterrupted power supply has caused a buzz on social media.

In a video clip shared on Twitter by Channels TV, Momoh could be seen giving a speech that seemed to be an imitation of the “I have a dream speech” delivered by American civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr in 1963.

During his speech at a conference centered on electricity, the NERC boss stated that he has a dream that Nigerians will have uninterrupted power supply for 24-hours daily.

“I have a dream that one day, my people Nigerians will have power 24/7. I have a dream that there will be (electricity) meters.” he said.

Momoh stated that he had a dream that Nigeria will overcome oppression and other challenges. He also urged Nigerians to keep hope alive.

However, many Nigerians on social media who felt that the speech was uninspiring mocked the NERC boss.

Some went as far as asking Momoh to find solutions to the nation’s current power challenges instead of dreaming.

Read their reactions below:

Shina Balogun: “He just came to make noise without passing an accurate message. He claimed he had a dream…. which dream..?. And he is a Professor!! SMH ‍♂️. Even a Marlian won’t make such a dumb presentation. Bad!”

Bols: “No one called him on stage to dream. This is 2020. The nightmares of darkness are now a stack REALITY!!! How does he intend to solve it given the timeline & at what time should we know he does not have what it takes to fix the problem. Talk they say is”

Ken Omoruyi: “@ProfJamesMomoh should sit down and proffer solution to the unending electricity challenges holding the country down instead of shouting hope, hope! Provision of uninterrupted electricity supply is not rocket science!”
