Another Nigerian kid, Esther Ojooluwa Adebowale, has proved her academic mettle as she won a scholarship worth N30 million after performing exceptionally at oral and written examinations. The exams were organized by Atlantic Hall School, Lagos where Adebowale from Igbooye in Eredo Local Council Development Area beat 85 other students to clinch the prize.
The Guardian reports. Taiwo Taiwo, the chairman of the school’s Educational Trust Council, said that the student won the scholarship after she performed well in the exams, adding that the scheme is directed at helping disadvantaged kids.
“Adebowale won a full scholarship to cover her tuition, boarding fees, school uniform, sportswear, and other levies for the six years in which she remains a pupil of Atlantic Hall School. “The scholarship, currently valued at N30m is our yearly contribution to lifting the circumstances of children from within our host communities,” she said. The scholarship will be covering all the fees Esther will be needing at the school.
Her father, Adebowale, expressed his gratitude to the organisers, saying that he is so short of words on how to go about thanking those that made it possible. It should be noted that since the inception of the scholarship programme in 2010, the school has given out N80 million scholarship to many economically disadvantaged children. The principal of the school, Andrew Jedras, said the school is working hard to give the necessary critical tools to young people which will make them succeed in the 21st century.
