Arthur Nwabufo is a Nigerian that has made the country really proud. He is a navigator and cadet at the Far Eastern State Technical Fisheries University of Russia. The Cable reports that Nwabufo is presently on an “around-the-world” expedition on the Pallada as he is also said to be the first citizen of the country to get to the Antarctica on the Russian fleet. It should be noted that the Pallada vessel is known to have been built in 1989 at the shipyard of Gdansk in Poland.

It is also considered as the pride of the university.

The underpinning of the expedition is to celebrate 200 years’ discovery of the Antarctica by Russian navigators. Nwabufo’s feat was made known in a letter sent to him Tuscheko, the head of foreign department in his school.

The announcement of the Nigerian feat was announced in a letter signed and sent by Olgga Tischenko, the head of the foreign affairs department of the institution. The letter partly read: ”This is to inform the Nigerian Embassy, that Mr Arthur Oge Nwabufo a cadet from the Far Eastern State Technical Fisheries University is currently sailing on board sail training ship ‘Pallada’ on the Round the World Expedition and he is the only Nigerian among cadets and crew-members of the sail ship.” The Cable also reports that the Nigerian is the younger brother of Fedrick Nwabufo, a seasoned Nigerian journalist.
