Jude Idada is winner of 2019 NLNG prize for literature

Jude Idada, the winner of the 2019 Nigerian Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) Prize for Literature has just shown that, Jude won a whopping sum of $100,000 with his children fiction titled Boom Boom, beating 172 others to clinch the prize that has been tagged one of the biggest writing prize in the world.

It should be noted that since its inception in 2004, the prize is rotated among the four genres of literature (fiction, poetry, drama, children’s literature) and is awarded to a book that is published within the year the prize is opened for publication. Another condition for the prize is the applicant must be of Nigeria nationality. The judges for the year are Patrick Oloko, a senior lecturer in African postcolonial literature at the University of Lagos, Obodimma Oha, the professor of cultural semiotics and stylistics at the University of Ibadan, and Asabe Usman Kabir, the professor of oral and African literature at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.

Jude has written other books too, among which are More than Comedy, By My Own Hands, A Box of Chocolates. He is an indigene of Edo who was born and raised in Lagos.
