Opeyemi Sowore, wife of detained publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, has stated that since his arrest on August 3rd, her and his kids have been only able to speak with him on phone twice.

Sowore is currently being held on charges of treasonable felony and attempt to overthrow the Nigerian government.

He was arrested by the Department for State Security, DSS.

Speaking about their phone communication, Opeyemi Sowore told NorthJersey Record, “The calls were heavily monitored” .

”Sowore has used the word revolution to promote democratic governance, including in the protest he was organizing in August, which called for education, security, infrastructure and fair wages, but the Nigerian government sees the term as negative” Opeyemi Sowore said.
