Nicki Minaj recently revealed that Kanye West told her he is now a born-again Christian, according to reports.

Minaj shared the news on an episode of her “Queen Radio” show on Apple Music with guest Chance the Rapper. She says West told her he found faith in God when he was hospitalized in 2016 and soon after diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

“Sometimes in the music business, we think that other artists don’t believe in God or aren’t spiritual as we are,” Minaj says. “Then when you find people, because I was just with Kanye, and he told me he’s a born-again Christian now.”

For the past several months, West and his wife, Kim Kardashian, have been hosting Sunday Services, a weekly mixture of church and concert. Last Sunday, VOUS Church Pastor Rich Wilkerson Jr. preached there.

Minaj says the last time she saw West, she noticed a difference in him.

“Like my first instinct was, ‘I’m so proud of you,’ because I could see there’s a peace that he has now that just surpasses everything. And that’s what I find God gives you. And I love when I see men that are man enough to embrace God.”

Minaj then offered faith-based relationship advice to her listeners: “To everybody listening, if you have a man that says he don’t believe in God … one time somebody told me this, that, ‘I don’t believe in God,’ and it scared the living [expletive] out of me. I ran like there was no tomorrow. So I just want to say, because a man needs a strong woman in his life, like whether that woman is praying or meditating or just supporting you or giving you those talks, people don’t understand how far that goes for men.”

West has stirred up controversy in the past for his vocal support of President Donald Trump. He also raised controversy among the Christian community several years ago when he went by the nickname “Yeezus” and created a gospel album full of curse words in which he declared himself a god.

Some Christians were further perturbed when West’s fans created the Book of Yeezus, a version of the Bible that replaces all mention of God with West’s name.
