Business mogul, Femi Otedola, has fulfilled his pledge of $25,000 to the Super Eagles for their lone goal win against Algeria in AFCON 2019 semi final.

The lone goal fetched the Eagles a third place in the decisive game.

Otedola made good his promise on Tuesday, as revealed by the Nigeria Footbal Federation via its verified Twitter handle @thenff.

It may be recalled that billionaires Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola had both promised the Super Eagles $75,000 for every goal scored in their remaining matches at the just-concluded Africa Cup of Nations.

While Dangote made a pledge of $50,000 to the team for every goal in their remaining two matches at the championship, Otedola promised $25,000 for every goal.

That was after the Eagles’ impressive performance against South Africa at the quarter-final of the competition.

The Nigeria Football Federation in a statement had stated concerning how the pledge came to be, that, “On a visit to the team’s Le Meridien Cairo Airport Hotel on Thursday (July 11, 2019) morning, during which he urged the players to even redouble their efforts in order to cross the semi-final stage on Sunday, President of the NFF, Mr. Amaju Pinnick, put a call through to the two well-known philanthropists and tasked them to commit to supporting the team.”

On Tuesday, Otedola redeemed his pledge.
