The teenager’s mother, Lynell Smith, in speaking with BOTWC, said that when her daughter learnt about the victims of the natural disaster, she really wanted to help.

The mother said that when she got to know that the disaster created a wide gap for the need for shoes, she said she would gladly help. It was gathered that her humanity service was very much influenced by her background and training in Girl Scout.

Lindsey Smith’s act of kindness will be helping many people affected in the Bahamas. To make the shoes available to the disaster’s victims, she went to neighbours, families, church member, friends and school mates, begging that they donate towards the cause. With the $100 coupon she received from the shoe store and her savings from her summer job, she was able to get 130 pairs of new shoes.

According to a resident of County Maryland, the teenage girl is working on delivery the shoes through the embassy of Bahamas, hoping that her gesture will help make the world a better place.
